(from G-Power Press Release) G-POWER X6 TYPHOON RS ultimate V10 based on the BMW X6 M (E71)

With 900 HP and a top speed of more than 330 km/h, G-POWER is building the world's fastest SUV based on the BMW X6 M in a limited edition of 5 units.

With the G-POWER X6 TYPHOON RS ultimate V10, G-POWER once again presents an automobile that can only be described with superlatives. The standard X6 M with its twin turbo-charged engine is already powered by an impressive power unit, but the standard BMW engine has not been capable of arousing emotions to the same way as the original M-POWER engine has been able to up to now. For this reason the engineers at G-POWER decided to fit the X6 M with the breath-taking performance of Formula 1 technology.

An appropriate powertrain to suit G-POWER's philosophy was quickly found. A high-revving engine with direct throttle response is now showing a character which the 5.0 l V10 power unit produced by M GmbH inherited at birth.

"The intention behind the G-POWER X6 TYPHOON RS ultimate V10 is, besides the aim of building the world's fastest SUV, to create a vehicle to do homage to M GmbH's fascinating V10 power unit", according to G-POWER's Managing Directors Christian Stöber and Zoran Zorneke talking about the ultimate X6 M's technical specification.

As with all the elaborately hand-built vehicles from the G-POWER manufactory, 100% orientation towards customer requirements as regards the interior finish and instrumentation and the strict limit on the numbers of each Edition is the key of the company’s thinking. The circle of clients among whom the G-POWER X6 TYPHOON RS ultimate V10 has been publicised clearly aims at solvent fans of the famous power unit which unfortunately will no longer be available in the foreseeable future.

In keeping with the dynamic presence of the TYPHOON RS wide-body kit, the G-POWER X6 TYPHOON RS ultimate V10 with its superlative power unit is the focus of everybody´s attention. To achieve this as a first step the BMW M5 5.0 l power unit was transplanted and comprehensively modified. The objective of the engine development at G-POWER was to bring out the best of the BMW Formula 1 characteristics hidden in the genes of the V10 power unit. The result was an engine without any equal in the world. Revving high, immediate throttle response and an explosive power output create a sensation of acceleration which otherwise only pure racing engines can achieve.

In addition, the G-POWER BI-compressor system (taken from the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RR world-record vehicle) was developed one stage further and at the same time the cubic capacity of the BMW V10 power unit was increased from 5.0 to 5.5 litres. This means more space for the supercharged air from the twin ASA T1-316 compressors which will be cooled to optimum performance temperatures by the double-flow, water-cooled intercooler. This complicated aluminium casting replaces the standard air box on top of the engine, and its direct inlet is responsible for the spontaneous response characteristics which give the G-POWER motor its incomparable "Race Feeling". The inner workings of the 10-cylinder, four-valve engine are optimised by light, precisely balanced MAHLE high-performance forged pistons with lower compression and increased mechanical strength. As the standard connecting rods and piston pins were equally not up to the considerably increased forces, here too, recourse was had to special parts. The forged, 7-bearing crank shaft is also a custom-made part which boosts the cubic capacity by 10% from 5.0 up to 5.5 litres. An optimised data map for the engine electronics rounds off the extensive modifications made to the V10 power train. The result is a peak performance of 900 HP / 662 kW at 8.000 rpm and a maximum torque of 870 Nm at 6.800 revs. This enormous power output is transmitted by a six-speed gearbox built by G-POWER to the rear axle. The automatic gearbox fitted as standard, just like the standard BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system, have been sacrificed to the G-POWER engineers' objective of creating a pure-bred sports car in SUV clothing.

Powered like that it is an easy job for the G-POWER X6 TYPHOON RS ultimate V10 to claim the title of the fastest SUV in the world:The sprint to 100 km/h takes a mere 4.2 seconds. In less than 13.0 seconds this exceptional SUV is already up to 200. The top speed is over 330 km/h.

So that the future owner of one of only 5 G-POWER X6 TYPHOON RS ultimate V10s available in the world can enjoy the fastest speed achievable with an SUV in complete safety, distinctively shaped skirts and spoilers, front and rear, trimmed for maximum aerodynamic efficiency provide the necessary downforce. The elegantly curved G-POWER wings on the front and the rear make room for the 3-part 23" G-POWER SILVERSTONE RS forged wheels: 11Jx23 at the front and 12Jx23 at the back. 315/25 ZR 23 high-performance tyres all round from the development associate MICHELIN ensure optimum traction and sports car handling.

Bringing the G-POWER X6 TYPHOON RS ultimate V10 from its top speed back to zero is the job of a high-tech brake system equipped with 410 mm carbon-ceramic brake disks and 6-piston callipers. This system allows a deceleration better than Earth's gravity while at the same time this system gives a weight savings of 50% compared with a standard brake system.

In the vehicle interior, the weight reduction demanded by the sports car concept is continued. After getting rid of the heavy xDrive all-wheel drive and making use of titanium as the material for the exhaust system, the four ultra-light carbon individual seats in the vehicle interior complete the weight reduction programme. Overall is the car ca. 150 kg lighter than the standard version.

However, such asceticism does not mean that comfort has to be sacrificed. The work lavished on the cockpit is no less than that on body and engine and with hand-finished interior fittings underlines this automobile's distinguished position. To this end the entire vehicle interior is fashioned in leather on a carbon structure. The style defined by the 4 carbon individual seats is emphasised by 2-coloured seams which tie in the leather on seats, instrument panel, interior door panels and last but not least on the A, B and C pillars. Door linings in leather and carbon manufactured in "CSL light-weight" harmonise perfectly with the new central console, equally made of carbon, which stretches up to the front seats and which encloses the high-end entertainment system. A tachometer reading up to 400 km/h, as well as the ergonomically shaped G-POWER sports steering wheel complete the G-POWER X6's interior.

The G-POWER X6 TYPHOON RS ultimate V10 can be ordered for Euro 675 000.-- (net) as a completely finished vehicle from the G-POWER manufactory in Autenzell. The edition is limited to 5 vehicles worldwide.

The company G-POWER:

G-POWER was established in 1983 and has ever since exclusively focused on tuning BMW automobiles and producing exclusive one-of-a-kinds. In 2008, the brand celebrated its 25-year anniversary and today, it is one of the most renowned providers on the global market. By developing the world-wide strongest versions of the most important BMW engines in-house, G-POWER significantly stands out from its competitors. G-POWER holds various world records and its 800 hp strong BMW M5 Hurricane RR is the fastest limousine in the world. G-POWER is holding the High-Speed record for over two years now.

BMW debuting sustainable sports car concept in Frankfurt

Busy, busy. BMW starts the day by leaving F1. And it looks like for lunch they’re bringing a green sports car to the Frankfurt Auto Show. Maybe. According to Autotelegraf.nl, the new sustainable sports car concept will be inspired by the BMW M1 Hommage concept and will feature all the latest and greatest BMW EfficientDynamics (auto stop/start, regenerative brakes, electric powersteering, etc).

But the hits don’t stop there — look for the concept to be built from sustainable materials, too. Big question: will this car be just a concept, or will a sustainable sports car actually make its way to dealers? Dunno. But the Dutch word is that BMW is studying the viability of said project and is planning on a limited release two-door showcasing their best environmental kung fu by 2012. Again, we just don’t know, and we’re not quite willing to hold our breath yet.

Best Auto Lotus Range Extender Style

 best=
Remember the Lotus Evora 414E Hybrid concept news from yesterday? Well, this is the petrol half of the hybrid package. It’s a solid cast, 1.2 litre, three-cylinder combustion engine which outputs 35kW at just 3500rpm. That doesn’t sound like much, but it’s designed strictly as a supportive generator to electric motors.

Lotus says the engine was purely designed for hybrid vehicles and it is why the engine was made to be so compact. The light-weight aluminium monoblock design was casted in such a way that the cylinder head, exhaust manifold and block is all one cast. Lotus says this reduces cost and weight, as the entire engine only weighs 85kg.

So what’s the news? Well, the design caught the eye of Fagor Ederlan (the owner of a large, international automotive component supplier known as Fagor Ederlan Group) at last year’s Frankfurt Auto Show. Fagor Ederlan announced the group has signed a partnership with Lotus Engineering for the production of Range Extender technology. So expect to see the engine mated to various Lotus, and possibly other manufacturer’s, hybrids in the near future.

2011 BMW Alpina B7

In today's consolidated and homogenized global auto industry, Alpina is an odd duck. Based in the southern German town of Buchloe, not far from Munich, the company started taking form back in 1961, when a German entrepreneur called Burkard Bovenspielen began to diversify the family typewriter company into an activity he was more passionate about—making high-performance automobile components. By the late 1980s, the company had focused on its current business: modifying BMWs (BMW:GR) to improve their performance and reselling them through BMW dealers. Mercedes' AMG division has similar roots, the difference being that founder Hans-Werner Aufrecht sold AMG to Mercedes in the 1990s, while Alpina remained independent.

2011 BMW Alpina B7
I recently test-drove the 2011 BMW Alpina B7, which hit dealerships in May and is the only Alpina model sold in the U.S. It's quite a car. If you've ever wondered why there's no high-performance "M" version of the 7 Series, as there is of most other BMW models, it may be because of Alpina. The B7 lineup consists of extensively retooled and upgraded versions of the BMW 750i, the long-wheel-base 750Li, and the all-wheel-drive versions of those vehicles. Alpinas are not only quicker and sportier but offer smoother riding than the equivalent BMW production models. They're also among the most exclusive cars on the market: Alpina expects to sell only around 1,000 B7s annually, about 400 of them in the U.S.

Alpina makes extensive mechanical modifications to the 7 Series. For starters, BMW's 4.4-liter V8 engine is significantly tweaked, with enlarged turbos, high-performance pistons, reinforced cylinder heads, and other modifications that raise horsepower to 500 and torque to 516 ft./lbs. (up from 400 hp. and 450 ft./lbs. of torque for the BMW 750i). Cooling capacity is dramatically expanded, the engine fan is enlarged and the rear differential has a shell made of cast iron, rather than aluminum, to improve heat transfer. Enlarged brakes are added, as are big, beautiful 21-in. spoked wheels clad with Michelin performance tires. Special front and rear spoilers and a new front fascia are added, too.

The car's springs are stiffened and the chassis lowered a fraction of an inch closer to the road. BMW's electronic suspension system is reconfigured to emphasize the difference between the "comfort," "normal," and "sport" settings. BMW's six-speed automatic transmission is beefed up and sport-tuned via Alpina's proprietary shift controls.

In width, length, interior space, and luggage capacity, the B7 is comparable to an equivalent BMW (which is to say the B7 is roomy and has a 14-cu.-ft. trunk). The classic paint job is a metallic Alpina blue, but the B7 is also offered in all the colors the 7 Series comes in.

The Alpina comes with all of a BMW's standard safety gear, including a full complement of air bags and stability and traction control. Fuel economy is similar, too. The B7 is rated to get 15 miles-per-gallon in the city and 21 on the highway. (City mileage drops to 14 with all-wheel drive.) That's about the same as the 2011 BMW 750i, which is rated at 15/22 with rear-wheel drive, and 14/20 with all-wheel drive.

Not surprisingly, however, an Alpina is considerably pricier than a comparable BMW. The B7 starts out at about $124,000, including destination and gas-guzzler taxes—about $40,000 more than a 2011 BMW 750i. Add $3,000 to the B7's price for all-wheel drive and $3,900 for a long wheel base. However, the B7 comes packed with around $14,000 worth of standard equipment that is optional on a comparable BMW (heads-up display, premium sound system, full leather interior, and so forth), reducing the real price premium.

BMW X5 M

Before BMW unveiled 555-hp X5 M, tuner G-Power revealed a 525-hp V8 G-Power Typhoon based on the X5. In an effort not to be left behind by the OEM X5 M, G-Power has now unveiled an even more powerful X5 – known as the X5 G-Power Typhoon RS.

BMW X5 M
BMW X5 M
BMW X5 M
BMW X5 M
With the help of a G-Power SK III RS supercharger, the Typhoon RS produces at total of 625-hp with a maximum torque of 516 lb-ft. That allows it to go from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 177 mph. The standard BMW X5 also goes from 0 to 62 mph in 4.6 seconds with a top speed electronically limited to 155 mph.

The performance kit by G-Power also uses a high-performance exhaust system, racing catalysts and rear mufflers, and a large-volume aluminum charge air cooling system at the front.

Visual changes remain subtle from the original G-Power Typhoon.

BMW 4-Door CLS Rival

MW 4-Door CLS Rival
It’s rare for BMW to be caught napping. But the German firm has only just given the green light to its stunning four-door Gran Coupe, which will take aim at the Porsche Panamera, Mercedes CLS and Audi A7.

Product development chief Klaus Draeger announced the decision at BMW’s Design Night in Munich, where the Gran Coupe concept made its European debut.

The car will be positioned in the range close to the new 6-Series, and aimed both at those who would like a more practical version of the 6-Series two-door, and at owners considering a 7-Series, but who prefer to drive themselves.

Styled by BMW design chief Adrian van Hooydonk, the Gran Coupe doesn’t have a hatchback like the Audi or Porsche. Instead, the firm has opted for a saloon bodystyle, which is preferred in the Chinese market, where this car is expected to be well received.

Buyers will have to wait until 2012 for the Gran Coupe to debut. It will share the same engines and front end styling as the new 6-Series, which debuts next year. So expect the usual 3.0-litre six cylinder petrol and diesel units, as well as a version of the 4.4-litre V8 found in the X5 M.

A hybrid version is currently being considered. Draeger said, “Since we use the same drive architecture as the Five, Six and Seven, we are able to bring a hybrid version.”

Ferrari 599XX Best Automotive Class

The Ferrari 599XX is no doubt one of the best looking car out there right now. We were just talking about this car over the weekend and saying that it’s probably the best designed modern Ferrari model currently in existence.

Whether be it red, white, black or any other color as previously posted during its track debut, it doesn’t matter. I still find my self salivating about this car. When I have an artist block, this is what I look at. It’s like a viagra for my brain.

But recently at the Paul Ricard High Test Track, couple of 599XX were spotted by photographerSevan Calians. What made this duo a bit more attractive to me (if that was even possible) was that it was wearing a new finish. Matte paints!

2010 Porsche Sports Car 911 Tequipment

2010 Porsche Sports Car 911 Tequipment
Porsche Tequipment has announced four new items for the 2010 Porsche Sport Car Classic 911. The new 2010 Porsche 911 Tequipment list includes sport classic wheels, a PDK steering wheel with gearshift paddles, an Aerokit Cup and a sport design front body panel. The new 2010 Porsche 911 Tequipment wheels come in 11.5 J x 19 ET 50 and are priced at Euro 5,569.20 including VAT. For the cars with tire pressure control the price is 5,866.70 EUR.

2010 Porsche Sports Car 911 TequipmentPorsche Sports Car 911 Tequipment

The 2010 Porsche 911 Tequipment three-spoke sports steering wheel with gearshift paddles is priced from Euro 940.10 and can be fitted to all versions of the 911, Boxster, Cayman, and Panamera. The 2010 Porsche 911 Tequipment Aerokit Cup is available for the coupe and is priced at Euro 4,522.00.
The Porsche 911 (pronounced as Nine Eleven, German: Neunelfer) is a 2-door sports coupe made by Porsche AG of Stuttgart, Germany. It has a distinctive design, rear engined and with independent rear suspension, an evolution of the swing axle on the Porsche 356.

2010 Porsche Sports Car 911 Tequipment
Porsche Sports Cars Press Release:

Four new retrofit highlights from Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, are dedicated entirely to the spirit of sporting performance. Particularly the 19-inch Sport Classic wheels in the unmistakable look of Porsche’s legendary Fuchs rims developed especially for the 911 Sport Car Classic built in a production run of just 250 units are an outstanding example of Porsche’s history and a striking design feature of the 911 Carrera.

2010 Porsche Sports Car 911 Tequipment
Re-interpreted in individual style, the wheels in five-spoke design with the rim star painted black, the wheel hump in gloss-lathed finish, and the Porsche logo in colour on the wheel hub, are a genuine eye-catcher. Introduced by Porsche for the first time in 1966, these unique wheels are now making an outstanding come-back. The new wheels measure 8.5 J x 19 ET 55 and come together with tyres in 235/35 ZR 19 (front) and, respectively, 305/30 ZR 19 (rear) on all current all-wheel-drive models of the 911 Carrera and Targa as well as the 911 Turbo at an all-in price per set of Euro 5,569.20 including VAT (cars with tyre pressure control Euro 5,866.70).

2010 Porsche Sports Car 911 Tequipment
Another particularly sporting feature is the three-spoke sports steering wheel with gearshift paddles for the PDK transmission already well known from the new 911 Turbo. Starting immediately, this unique leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles behind the right and left steering wheel spokes carried over from motorsport is available at a price of Euro 940.10 including VAT also for individual retrofitting on all versions of the 911, Boxster, Cayman, and Panamera with PDK and, starting in August 2010, on the new Cayenne with Tiptronic S.

2010 Porsche Sports Car 911 Tequipment
The high-quality shift paddles are naturally made of metal. Through their stretched sickle shape, the gearshift paddles allow the driver to shift gears manually with perfect ease, from a wide range of individual holding positions on the steering wheel. The driver shifts up on the right and down on the left.

2010 Porsche Sports Car 911 Tequipment
The newly developed Aerokit Cup available on all versions of the 911 Carrera Coupé shows a close and direct link to the fastest brand trophy in the world, the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. At the front of the car the most outstanding feature is the new apron with its striking trim bars in the centre air intake and the characteristic spoiler lip. At the rear the unique rear lid with the wing fitted in position takes up the highly successful design of the former model. It almost goes without saying that all components have been optimised in Porsche’s wind tunnel to improve both driving behaviour and aerodynamics.

2010 Porsche Sports Car 911 Tequipment
Already available on new cars at a price of Euro 4,968.25 including VAT, the Aerokit Cup may now also be retrofitted on current models of the 911. In this case the price from Porsche Tequipment is Euro 4,522.00 including VAT, plus fitting and paintwork.

2010 Porsche Sports Car 911 Tequipment
While so far the Aerokit with its particularly sporting look was not available to drivers of the 911 Cabriolet and Targa (997), the new, striking Sport Design front apron now closes this gap, with the spoiler lip matched aerodynamically to the regular rear spoiler. Naturally, the new front panel also fits on all other versions of the 911 Carrera and 911 Targa in the 997 model series. Finished in the same colour as the car itself, the front apron in Sport Design blends harmoniously with the overall contours and silhouette of the 911.

2010 Porsche Sports Car 911 Tequipment
The Aerokit retails on new cars at a price of Euro 2,368.10 including VAT and is available from Porsche Exclusive. It may also be retrofitted individually by Porsche Tequipment at a price of Euro 2,159.85 including VAT, plus the cost of fitting and paintwork.
Other performance upgrade is the use of high-performance sport brake kit that consists of 6-piston brake calliper and perforated, inner-ventilated brake discs.
